With the advent of monsoon, arrives the question of how to keep your attire stylish yet rain friendly. Well, monsoons- You can hate it, you can love it but you definitely cannot ignore it. You have to make sure that you dress comfortably for the rains, by not ignoring the trends that are catching up in today's world of fashion. Speaking of which, capes are undeniably trending this season. Oh yes, it's the cape trend that I am talking about. It's official: Capes are the new jackets this season!
Cape Trends to be followed this season
No matter what season it is, capes are always trending. In summers, you would want to go for the ones in cotton, chambray, linen and such other breathable fabrics. On the other hand, in winters or cool temperatures, you would prefer going for the ones in woolen, leather, fur and such other fabrics that would keep you warm and comfortable. The point being, whether it's summers, winters or monsoon, capes are rapidly trending, literally at the speed of light. Capes are definitely the coolest cover ups on the high streets and of course, on the catwalk. And why not? They look effortlessly cool and can blend in with any occasion or event and has the ability to transform your outfit into a complete high fashion outfit in a couple of seconds. It does add an extra finish to your look, don't you think?
The one which I am wearing is a long shin length cape from Bershka which is suitable more for cool temperatures. The sleeves are full, but in order to style them and to add a casual look to my attire, I preferred rolling up the sleeves. This cape is just way too good and it's a personal favorite, I must say! Also, capes which are unbuttoned or left unbuttoned will help you look slimmer for sure.
Some dos and dont's for the cape trend:
- Go for capes in neutral shades like brown, grey, black, white, cream, etc. to maximize versatility.
- Avoid too much of prints, especially broad or bold prints as that could make your body look larger than it actually is.
- For a slimming effect, have the cape unbuttoned.
- To bring out the shape of the cape, go for slim fitted pants. Avoid bell bottom pants or cigarette pants.
- BOOTS! Boots will add an instant edge to the look. Go for boots, suede or leather, ankle or knee length, however you like.
- Accessorize with long chains or layered chain necklaces.
- Avoid the costumey look.
